Description :

The Communications Coordinator assists with the development and implementation of SOAR!’s communications strategy. Specifically, this individual manages and maximizes SOAR!’s online digital presence, coordinates media relations, and provides assistance with other communications initiatives.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Coordinate with the President and Director of Development to develop a yearly media and public relations strategy and communications plan.
2. Curate and create a variety of written and visual content for web and social media to promote SOAR! and increase the organization’s visibility, relevance and voice.
3. Ensure SOAR!’s website content is relevant and consistently up-to-date.
4. Evaluate SOAR!’s online presence through use of analytics tools and present quarterly reports on status as well as suggest ways to improve search engine standings and rankings.
5. Write and design emails.
6. Draft and disseminate press releases for grant awards, events, and other projects.
7. Manage relationships with media, communication partners and website vendors.
8. Identify and engage with Catholic and secular sources to share stories of the mission of SOAR!.
9. Assist with planning and public relations for all SOAR! events.
10. Monitor top influencers and trends and engage and share content as applicable.
11. Organize and maintain organization’s photo file.

Education and Experience Requirements:

* Bachelors’ degree in journalism, public relations or related field
* 2-3 years communications experience is required
* Exceptional written, verbal and oral communications skills
* Proficiency in WordPress and content management systems, Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop

Knowledge of the social media landscape and the use of social media for marketing is required.

Knowledge of tracking online metrics through Google Analytics and Facebook Insights is helpful. Photography and video skills are a plus. The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively, and meet a variety of deadlines is required.

Job Title: Communications Coordinator (16 hours per week)

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Creating and implementing assorted promotional materials and approaches (print and digital and social media) including promotional outreach to the Community, constituents and all publics.
  • Creating Ads and Press Releases.
  • Collaborating with others at the Living Word Center in their creation of media and updates for posting to the website and social media platforms.

Essential Job Functions:

Advancement:

  • Post and update website and social media platforms with content and photos.
  • Create issues of Good News (every 3 weeks) for members and Associates.
  • Monthly eNewsletter to entire constituency.
  • Create slideshows for website, Facebook and other

Community:

  • Create promotional items, print materials, digital content, etc. to be utilized in a coherent and consistent way for constituents and potential new members or associates.

Requirements:

  • Commitment to support the Mission and Vision of the Sisters of the Living Word
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work collaboratively
  • Excellent written and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in design, layout and editing of publications – must be proficient in InDesign and Photoshop
  • Able to handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously
  • Effective organizational and information management skills, including basic office

Education/Experience:

  • BA required, preferably in Marketing and/or Communications
  • Advanced PC skills including Microsoft Office especially Publisher; Word Press, and Adobe graphic design programs such as InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator.
