Description :

2017 CSC Jerry & Judy Kent Intern-in-Service Program
Spring Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until July 15, 2017

The Intern-in-Service program at the Catholic Student Center at Washington University is a volunteer campus ministry initiative geared towards recent college graduates who seek not only to grow personally, professionally and spiritually, but also to form students intellectually, morally, socially, and spiritually.

By helping with programming, Masses, and various responsibilities at the CSC, interns will welcome all students and empower student leaders wherever possible. Interns provide a hospitable presence–both on campus and at the CSC–and help students connect life and faith in tangible ways. In addition to serving the intern program includes spiritual direction, formation with our pastoral team, and one-on-one supervision, so that the interns can discern the next step in their life journey and learn how to become active participants in parish life and moral leaders in their careers. Interns will live in community with each other and are compensated with food and housing, as well as a small stipend to cover gas, cell phone, personal expenses, and health insurance.

4 aspects of internship
1. Formation – Through monthly group formation meetings, one-on-ones with a staff supervisor, spiritual direction, and designated time each week for spiritual and personal growth the Internship helps foster Interns’ personal, spiritual, and professional person. Our goal is to create self-aware leaders who are ready to go out and live the gospel.
2. Service – To give of oneself is the definition of this Internship. Interns give of their time and energy to serve the students at Washington University and provide an example for the students of what it means to be a Christian servant leader.
3. Leadership – Interns go through formation that will help them be future leaders in Church and society while demonstrating that leadership to the students they serve. Professional formation throughout the year will help them identify their strengths and areas in need of development with their work style and in working with a team. Ongoing training helps the interns not only be more successful during their internship year but also helps them transfer those skills to whatever career they end up in.
4. Community – The internship provides opportunity for intentional community among the interns through an intentional living community, communal prayer with each other once a week, and communal bonding once a week.
