Description :

Under limited supervision, working various days and times, this position serves as a liaison and champion for Conference revitalization and is responsible for improving the operation and ensuring future viability of all Conferences in the Council area to carry out the Society’s mission. The position provides guidance, training, and support to ensure SVdP Conferences develop their operational abilities as well as to grow and diversify membership.

Member Support Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance and support to District and Conference presidents to enable them to lead, develop and provide services to conferences
  • Work with District presidents to identify Conferences in greatest need of development and growth; develop and provide oversight of a development plan for those Conferences
  • Ensure Districts/Conferences have leadership succession plans and assist with development and formation of future Conference and District leaders
  • Work with Formation Manager to provide Conferences with opportunities for spiritual development, formation, and an understanding of Missionary Discipleship
  • Encourage or, if necessary, mediate, relationships between Conference and Pastor/Parish to provide opportunities for recruitment and Parish involvement in work of Conference
  • Facilitate conflict resolution when necessary between interested parties (i.e., Conference officers and members, pastors and neighbors in need, etc.)
  • Assist with special programs and events (i.e., walk for the Poor, Day of Prayer and Reflection, Cool Breeze Fan Drive, etc.)
  • Responsible for assisting, as needed, with non-staffed Conference support programs and services (i.e., store, food, pharmacy and auto repair vouchers, legal aid, 211 etc.)
  • Attends District meetings and other Conference meetings

Reporting Responsibilities:

  • Guide Conferences in maintenance of Conference records (i.e., audits, membership updates, Conference Activity Report, etc.)
  • Communicate timely to District presidents/Council leadership Conference successes, needs, and difficulties
  • Oversee collection of Conference quarterly CAR documents
  • Assist with preparation of Archdiocesan Council annual report

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for assisting with content of scheduled membership newsletters, need-driven communications, and other printed or electronic materials to facilitate and exchange of information with Conferences
  • Responsible for Conferences adherence to membership update requirements in membership database
  • Responsible for helping with preparation of Conference Directory and resource guide

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Five (5) years of work experience performing project/volunteer management duties; non-profit experience preferred
  • Personal spirituality rooted in the Scriptures

Knowledge of

  • Principles and techniques of strategic planning process related to revitalization (Advanced level)
  • Office methods and procedures (Advanced level)
  • MS Office software package (Intermediate level)
  • Familiarity with Vincentian and parish operations and dynamics

Ability to

  • Communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with a wide variety of people
  • Manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously and provide timely and clear updates to leadership
  • Work in an organized, efficient manner with attention to detail and follow-through
  • Follow and interpret written procedures and guidelines
  • Work evening and weekend hours based on Conference meeting times
  • Maintain confidentiality

Physical demands

  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
