Description :

The Catholic Diocese of Cleveland was founded on April 23, 1847. It is the twenty-third
largest diocese in the United States. The Most Reverend Edward C. Malesic was
installed as the 12th Bishop of Cleveland on September 14, 2020. The diocese
encompasses the counties of Cuyahoga, Summit, Lorain, Lake, Geauga, Medina, Wayne
and Ashland. There are more than 670,000 Catholics in the Diocese, and Catholic
Charities- Diocese of Cleveland is one of the largest diocesan systems of social services
in the world. There are 185 parishes, 107 Catholic schools, 1 pastoral center and 1
mission office within the diocese. The cathedral is the Cathedral of St. John the
Evangelist, located in downtown Cleveland. Members of the diocesan staff support the

PRIMARY FUNCTION
Under the director of information technology, the manager, printing and mailing office, is
primarily responsible for providing direction and management of the Printing & Mailing
Office of the Diocese, and all duties associated with that office. The manager supervises
the staff responsible for execution of bulk printing, copying, mailing, telephone
operation, and associated services required by Diocesan offices within the Cathedral
Square complex, and the parishes, schools and others who request those services from
this Office. Additionally, the manager oversees all vendor relationships associated with
printing, mailing and copying services functions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Supervises and manages all functions of the Office. Demonstrates working
knowledge of all equipment operations and operating practices. Functions so that
incumbent is able to perform operational duties if necessary due to work load or staff
shortage in a demand driven environment. Provides training to subordinates as
required.
2. Assures that all production work is completed in a timely and professional manner
with emphasis on the quality of the finished product/job produced. Incumbent is
knowledgeable and proficient in production techniques so that improvements in
production methods and quality of finished product are made as necessary.
3. Maintains adequate technical skills associated with printing, copying and mailing
functions so that recommendations can be made regarding design, layout and
production methods necessary in producing a finished product. Is familiar with

related ancillary services (printers, mailing companies, etc.) and able to communicate
well with those professionals as necessary. Serves as primary resource/subject matter
expert to diocesan administrative offices, parishes, schools etc. regarding all printing
copying and mailing related functions
4. Acts as subject matter expert regarding copier/MFD (Multi-function Devices) for
Cathedral Square offices. Keeps current with technology advances as applied to this
category of equipment and is able to assist departments in selecting the appropriate
equipment to serve department and Diocesan needs. Is willing and able to serve as
resource other diocesan entities (parishes, schools, etc.) in a similar capacity.
Reviews, Negotiates, and recommends contracts for other diocesan entities (parishes,
schools, etc.).
5. Maintains adequate inventory of supplies to meet office and production needs.
Responsible for supplies purchasing, inventory management and billing for services
(where required). Secures bids and negotiates contracts for all office equipment,
supplies, and outsourced services for all diocesan offices at Cathedral Square and
other clients. Interfaces with business machine/copier maintenance and repair
personnel as necessary.
6. Works closely with accounting manager to ensure that necessary financial reports
applicable to the printing & mailing office are accurate. Prepares annual departmental
budget and manages to the approved budget, reviewing and setting charge-backs
appropriately.
7. Establishes and maintains strong professional relationships and works collaboratively
with all Diocesan departments/clients including related diocesan entities (parishes,
schools, etc.) who take advantage of the services which the printing & mailing office
provides.
8. Accomplishes additional related responsibilities as needed or directed.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Ability to support the mission, teachings, and values of the Catholic Church.
2. Minimum Associates Degree or business management related field. Significant
successful experience (7 to 10 years) in the area of print shop production management
may be considered in lieu of a degree.
3. Experience in direct supervision of staff or leading teams preferred.
4. Working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite programs. Proficiency and
experience with software interfaces used in print job set-up, etc. USPS certified
software knowledge a plus.
5. Strong project management and interpersonal skills. Ability to work well under
pressure in a demand driven environment.
6. Able to lift up to 50 pounds repetitively as required. Able to work in a standing
position for longer periods of time.
7. Knowledge of USPS/UPS/FedEx regulations, including non-profit and bulk mailings
and international shipping.
